Battle of Blue Licks

In 2008/2009:  we partnered with the Kentucky State Parks Foundation to fund the purchase of a replica Kentucky Long Rifle for the Pioneer Museum.   During the Annual August Battle Re-enactment we provided members to help with the event.  During our annual Evening Among Friends banquet we presented an award to the Volunteer of the Year.  We have applied for grants to help the park.  We co-sponsored (with Blue Licks) a free Spay and Neuter Clinic – helping to raise funds and awareness.  Several members of the group met with officials from the Lexington Visitors Bureau and state officials to discuss implementing a Revolutionary War in Kentucky brochure.  We sponsored a food booth during the Park’s annual Halloween festivities.  We purchased a quilt rack to display and share the rich heritage of quilting with park visitors and showcase local artists from surrounding counties.
